Population Ageing and Retirement Income Provision in the European Union

ABSTRACT
This article provides an extensive overview of the key economic issues raised by population ageing in the Eiropean Union, given the varying demographic projections for EU countries and the different systems of retirement income provision that are employed . The article concludes that population ageing has widely varying effects on different countries owing largely to differences in the systems of retirement income provision.
